Zombies has been a great subject for many movies and games for the past 10 years. With the market getting a bit more saturated and new trends like sci-fi action are taking over, it will always be a solid ROI producing category for commercial micro budgets, picking up new profitable sub-niches inside the genre empowered by hit TV series like Walking Dead.

Post Apocaliptyc

Starting from Stephen King's TV series back in the 90s and more recent big productions like Children Of Men, the post-apocalyptic genre has been serving millennials, and now also generation Z with hit series like Walking Dead. Like all other commercial micro budget genres, they are constantly refreshing their approach with new angles which might be an approach that was hot a long time ago, and is now coming back again. This genre is made to fit zombies and below are a couple of samples of post-apocalyptic zombie movies, one of them using reality TV shooting style inspired from the late 90s cult classic: Blair Witch Project.

Zombie comedies

ZZombie comedies aka. stoner movies, is a great medium for micro budget movie producers, where low budgets, bad acting and cheap jokes just add up to the grind house feel that international movie buyers are after – movies where audiences laugh at cheesy jokes because they are so bad. But high demand for these kind of movies has made even Hollywood produce mid-budget productions like Zombieland following this b-movie trend. Recently there has been a rise in Nazi zombie movies kicked off by crowd funded Finnish hit Iron Sky.
